I recently came across flipkart.com, an online bookstore which as far as i know is the only online bookstore in India to offer discounts and free shipping (with no catch). I have not ordered from them yet as I already have a pile of books i very recently got and have not read yet but their collection looks good. Almost all volumes have discount and some even have upto 20% discount.

Their UI is refreshingly simple and the search is quite powerful which I think is very important for a website like this. Since they are only a month old, they do not have too many fancy features but I had a chat with the team and they are in the process of adding a lot of nice features. They however have must have features like “Search history” etc. They accept all major credit cards and are working on adding more payment gateways.

If you are considering buying a book in the near future, I would highly recommend using their services. Do let me know how was your experience.

    When talking about online book stores i feel http://www.vanishbooks.com is relly nice. Free shipping, low prices, endless list of books, discounts you have it all. I have ordered books twice from them and they are quiet prompt in theie delivery.

    At last even India has its own Amazon.com

    Recently stumbled across http://www.flipgraph.com after a friend recommended them when I was looking to buy a rare book, which I was not able to find on Infibeam.Rediff.FlipKart etc.

    Must say they knocked me off the feet. Wonderful service. They do used books using an interesting concept called Flips. I got the used copy of same book in 50 bucks!! I knew the new copy costs around 1100 Rs. Was a lucky day for me to find them.

    I have ordered with them 9 times now, cheapest price 90% times. They send them in nice package with a scribble pad, got them in plain 2 days. Good for customers like us that folks are launching services like this in India.

    I ordered a nokia n8 on there website for adeal price of inr15565 on there mobile deal price.

    the order number was Od10326180616 .The order was confirmed and got an sms and email confirmation of the same.

    I even confirmed them on phone about this order ,oddly enough i got a call on the next day saying albiet rudely that this was a pricin…g error and the have cancelled this order .

    This proves that there site is very illmanaged and untrustworthy and they have not got their act together.

    Buying on this site is a collasal & totally waste of time since they can always cite the reason pricing error and cancel the order.

    SO READERS BEWARE OF THIS BOGUS SITE THET DO NOT STAND BY THEIR COMMITMENT.
